Pescatarians - What Do They Eat?

Pescatarians – What Do They Eat? Their diet is very similar to vegetarians with the exception they eat fish and seafood. There are many reasons why someone may choose to eat a pescatarian diet including health, environmental and ethical reasons.

What do pescatarians eat?
  • Whole grains
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Dairy – milk and cheese
  • Vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Fish and other seafood
  • Eggs
What are the benefits of a pescatarian diet?

Health

Some of the proven benefits of eating a plant-based diet include a lower risk of obesity, illnesses like diabetes and heart disease. Seafood provides additional omega-3 fatty acids, which are proven to protect the heart and reduce inflammation.

Environmental

Studies have found that eating a pescatarian diet can reduce your carbon footprint. This is because fish do not release the same amount of greenhouse gases.

Ethical Reasons

They do not support factory farms that raise livestock inhumane conditions. When there is so much hunger in the world, they believe that growing grain for animal feed is an unfair use of land and resources.

Including seafood in a vegetarian diet expands your options and provides an excellent source of protein, omega-3 and other nutrients.
